With the Team Rectifier's GIS, we are now in a position to BETTER understand the system that we must put in place to address the ACHS requirements. That is, what we have right now would not be sufficient to satisfy the ACHS need. As can be seen by the other areas of this report, we can, however, implement changes to the database design, take necessary steps to ensure data integrity, and estimate the time (read that, monetary) investment required to complete the job. As an example, we show a couple of thematic maps illustrating the nature of Charlottesville in 1920. Along with these maps, we could create additional maps that would include things like 3-D views, changes in building construction, etc. If we combine historical assessor data, we can show the impact of cost over time. Figures 1 and 2 show examples of the types of thematic maps that can be generated with the database developed by the Rectifier team (click on either image to see a full size version of the thematic map, which opens in a new window). It has been said that in order to learn, one must make mistakes. And we made mistakes (as can be seen by the issues addressed in the report). This, however, puts us in a very good position of knowing what to do and what NOT to do. Armed with this knowledge and a great team, we are prepared to take the ACHS budget, spend it, and give you a great product.
